Cooking with a Spicy Attitude
Welcome to my blog.
The Art of Seasoning is created and maintained by me, Hema Kundargi.
I am passionate about cooking
I love to cook when I am in good mood or bad mood,
I love to cook when I am energetic or tired.
I love to cook for my family or friends
I love to read cookbooks
After relishing unique tasty food at any restaurant or friend’s place,
I challenge myself to recreate the same recipe in my kitchen within the next 24 hours.
Well you can say I am just passionate about cooking
I have spent the first half my life in India and later half in California.
I love to westernize Indian food, (read: simplified Indian cooking for western kitchen and fast paced lifestyle) and Indianize every cuisine (read: add a generous dose of spices and herbs )
I am an accountant by profession but decided to follow my passion for cooking after coming to US
I am freelance food writer and write food columns for Indian magazine, India Currents and a local magazine, Cupertino Scene. Noticing a void for Indian cooking show on food network and PBS, I ventured into producing, hosting and editing my own cooking show on local cable access channel, ‘Indian Vegetarian Gourmet’ My shows have won several local and national awards.
The recipes from my cooking show are on my website www.massala.com
Wherever I meet my cooking show viewers and fans, the oft asked question is “What are you cooking tonight?” There is a curiosity as to what I cook for my family everyday.
Thus the idea of writing this blog was born. Through this blog I would like share Indian inspired vegetarian recipes for the novice cook and the gourmet Chef.
Recipes for everyday cooking from my kitchen to yours.
‘The Art of Seasoning’ blog is an extension of my cooking shows and website.
The origins of my recipes are my experimentation with new ingredients, family recipes, friends sharing their favorite, popular recipes with me, Inspirations from cookbooks and magazines with my final seasoning trademark stamp. This blog will share many of my favorite recipes that did not make it to the cooking show.
